Celebrations of Life
Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel observed that:
"Judaism teaches us to be attached to the holiness in time....to be attached to sacred events....to learn how to consecrate sanctuaries that emerge from the magnificent stream of a year...."
These "sanctuaries in time" can be communal - such as the weekly observance of Shabbat -
but they can also be personal and individual.
Although we all encounter challenges, obstacles and disappointments on our personal "journey" through life, there are also many blessing-filled moments worthy of special celebration and ceremony.
Some of these may include:
The Birth of a Child
The Beginning of a Child's Formal Education
Bar/Bat Mitzvah
A Job Promotion
Consecration of a New Home or Business
Acceptance into College; Grad School or Special Program
Graduations
Special Birthdays & Anniversaries
Celebration of Professional & Personal Accomplishments
Family Reunions
Renewal of Wedding Vows
Retirement
Embarking on a Journey / Travel
