Within Jewish tradition, one's home is to be viewed as a Mikdash M'at - a "small sanctuary." 

It should be a place of love, learning, joy, kindness, support and appreciation.

 

By affixing a mezuzah to the doorposts of our home - we acknowledge God's Presence in our lives

and remind ourselves to bring a sense of sanctity and holiness to what occurs within it's walls.
